There's also a brief FAQ at the end for those who are not familiar with fests and how they work.

"Ok, but what is a fic fest?" (FAQ)
If you're new to the fandom or to fanfic culture in general and don't quite know how it works, fear not! We're all just having fun here.

▶️ What is a fic fest, anyway?
A fest is a fandom event run by fans and for fans where people get together to create fanworks. That's basically it! Fic fests often involve written works (i.e. fanfic) and can vary according to format/type.

Prompt-based fests, for example, are fests where people send in prompts and authors choose one out of those to write for the event. Bingos, as the name suggests, are an event where creators are given a bingo card with themes/tropes/keywords in each square, and are encouraged to fill up the card or make combinations. Exchanges typically involve gifting another participating with a work and receiving one yourself. And so on and so forth!

Fic fests can be fandom-specific (e.g. A TBZ-centric fest), ship-specific (e.g. Moonbae Fest), character-specific (e.g. Sangyeon Fest), thematic (e.g. A spring-themed fest), etc. They can also combine different media, like a big bang, where writers and fanartists come together to make both fanfic and fanart.

▶️ What kind of fests are there?
So many! Prompt-based, bingo, exchange, ficmix, big bang, song/MV-based... All those links we added up there? Well, those are from our lists on Twitter! We have a Twitter list for multifandom fests where you could still write for TBZ, and we recommend Write Or Write's Fest Tracker to find things outside of the fandom.

▶️ How do I join a fest?
Keep an eye on the fest account! They usually release schedules and instructions for sign-ups. Within the TBZ fandom, we RT information about fests on our Twitter and we often update the #announcements channel on our Discord server with info about TBZ fests.

▶️ So what is the goal of a fest? Why do people join, or why should I?
Fests are a celebration of fandom and a way to foster community and inspire the creation of new works. That's the main thing, everything else is a bonus.

You could join a fest just because, or to hone your writing skills, to challenge yourself, to get inspired, to have an excuse to write something you really want to, to have company while you write, to accompany a friend who's also joining...

If you don't feel like joining, or don't vibe with the idea of working under the pressure of a deadline, you can still be an important part of this ecosystem by simply reading the works! Readers are an essential part of fandom in general, after all.
