[ Navigation: Intro | How To Participate | Links | Rules | Schedule | FAQ ]What is the TBZ WIP Marathon? It's a fic fest for writers to
finish a WIP (work in progress) where THE BOYZ are the main characters. That means any unfinished TBZ fic! It could be a fic you have written a few words for and forgot about, for example, or a fic you've been working on for years, or even a chaptered fic you have published the first chapter(s) of and need to continue writing. The goal is to get those WIPs moving, preferably past the finish line.
And even if you don't get there, that's ok too. In a marathon, finishing is nice and all, but you can be proud of yourself just for participating. So get some water, pace yourself, and let's warm up those writing muscles together.
How to participate:Read
the rules first! Interested in joining? Then just fill out the
Sign Up Form and you're in.
Work on your WIP during the event and submit your work to the TBZ WIP Marathon AO3 collection until October 9 (check
Rules for more details on this!). We will have two check-ins: that's when we will ask you if you're still running with us.
There is no minimum wordcount so during check-in we won't ask you to show us anything.
There are forms linked below for different stages of the event: the Sign Up Form for when you first join, the Drop Out Form in case you need to withdraw from the marathon, and the Finish Line Form for when you've finished writing your WIP.

Rules:
- The marathon runs in KST. (Time Zone Converter)
- All ships and ratings allowed, as well as co-writing and genfic. Crossovers are welcome but the fic must have at least one THE BOYZ member as a main character.
- There is no anonymous period. There are no reveals and no specific dates for postings. You can add your fic to our AO3 collection and fill out the Finish Line form whenever you want while the marathon is happening. As soon as you add your fic and we approve it into the collection, it will be visible for everyone, so feel free to talk openly about it!
- The fics must be added to our AO3 collection until the deadline. However, there is one exception to this rule:
- If you're writing a fic for a different fest, please make sure there are no conflicting issues when adding your fic to our collection! Adding at a later date, adding a work that is still hidden/anonymous due to a different fest, adding only when both fests are over - those are all ok with us. So yes, that means you can join the marathon to finish a fic for another fest!
- You can only join with one WIP at a time. Finished early? Feel free to fill out the Sign Up Form again with another WIP! You can join as many times as you want, as long as you finish and submit each WIP first before joining again.
- Please participate in the check-ins so we know you're still in the race. If you need, you can drop out at any time, just fill out the Drop Out Form or let us know directly.
- All communication will be done through email to accomodate people using different social medias but we can be reached anywhere if you need any help or have any questions.
- No works partially or fully written by AI will be accepted for this fest. No robots are running this marathon for you.
FAQWhat's the reason behind this event? The mods noticed they weren't the only ones struggling to get through their WIPs and wanted to help other deobis with an event that will encourage them to work on their own fics. The structure was partially inspired by
BTS WIP Fest and our aim is to offer everyone an excuse to finally tackle that half-finished WIP in their drafts.
Will WIPs with Haknyeon/with OT11 be accepted?Yes. This was envisioned as an OT11 event and as of now, works featuring Haknyeon are accepted. We ask for everyone's understanding in case circumstances change and force us to revise that decision, however. We also ask for everyone's collaboration in regards to fanfic etiquette: don't like, don't read.
What do you mean by no reveals and no postings? It means the AO3 collection is set to show all works and who wrote them right away, as soon as the fic is approved by a marathon mod. It will work similarly to how
Hakoween did things in 2024! We will also regularly update our social media with any new works added to the collection.
How can I join if my WIP is being written for another fest?Let's say you're writing for Juyeon Fest, for example. You can join the marathon to work on that fic, but since Juyeon Fest has its own AO3 collection, your priority will be to add your fic there first and make sure there are no conflicting issues if you add it to our collection as well. In this example, their collection is set to Unrevealed until postings and Anonymous until reveals. That means your fic will stay hidden/anonymous until those dates, even if you add it to our collection too - and that's fine! We'll only be able to promote your fic after Juyeon Fest reveals happen, but that's fine by us.
If you add it to our collection first and only later add it to the Juyeon Fest collection, however, your fic will be public and visible everywhere at first, which will then reveal yourself as the author before the anonymous period for Juyeon Fest is over. That's why we ask you to pay close attention to what collection you should be adding your fic to first, and to the rules of each fest.
And if regardless of dates you can't or don't want to post that fic to our collection after all, we understand! Your commitment to Juyeon Fest comes first and posting to our collection isn't mandatory in that case. But we still ask that you fill out the Finish Line Form just so we know you ran with us to the, well, finish line.
I changed my mind after joining and now I want to work on a different WIP. Do I have to drop out and sign up again? No! If you change your mind and want to work on a different WIP, you can! No need to contact us or sign up again. We only ask that you remember the placeholder title you signed up with - you're gonna need it when it's time to fill out the Finish Line Form. (And if you want to change that placeholder title too, just shoot us a message anywhere!)
TL;DR - to sum it up?Fic fest where you work on one of your TBZ WIPs and fill out some forms. That's it.
